Electricity

Electricity transformed the world Sometimes I use to marvel on the pure concept of “electricity”. For example, in the year 1816, Francis Ronald had a very good vision on how electricity could transform the world and he ended up creating the first working electric telegraph system, but you know what? William Gilbert established the term “electricity” and the list continue… Year Names Invention/Discoveries Credited 17th Century William Gilbert Magnetism and Static electricity “electricity” 1762 Johan Carl Wilcke Electrophorus 1800 Alessandro Volta Voltaic Pile (Battery) 1827 Georg Ohm Quantified the relationship between electric current and potential difference in a conductor 1873 James Clerk Maxwell Unified theory of electricity and magnetism in his treatise Electricity and Magnetism 1831 Michael Faraday Electromagnetic induction Electricity has been a subject of scientific attention since at least the early seventeenth century. Williams Gilbert, was a prominent early electrical scientist, who was the first to draw a clear distinction between magnetism and static electricity. He credited with establishing the term “electricity”. He also designs the Versorium: a device that detects the presence of statically charged objects. In 1762 Swedish professor Johan Carl, wilcke invented a device later name electrophorus that produced a static electric charge. By 1800 Alessandro Volta had disclose the Voltaic pile, (Battery) a forerunner of electric battery. In the 19th century, research into the subject started to intensify. Notable outgrowth in this century include the works of George Ohm, who in 1827 quantified the connection between the electric current and potential difference in a conductor, of Michael Faraday (the discovery of electromagnetic induction in 1831) and of James clerk Maxwell, who in 1873 published a unified theory of electricity and magnetism. Electrical engineering became a vocation in the late 19th century. Practitioner had created a global electric telegraph networks and the first professional electrical engineering institutions were founded in the uk and us to support the new discipline. Francis Ronalds stand ahead of the field, who created the first working electric telegraph system in 1816 and documented his vision of how the world could be transformed by electricity.
